Working Out With an Injury by Tony Horton

Working out with an injury is something we will have to do sooner or later. We all have aches and pains from time to time and occasionally we are faced with a more serious, acute type of injury. My main problem area is my lower back. I was in constant pain for years before I started P90X and this is part of my “why”. Since I started my new fitness journey in 2008 (home workouts over the gym), my troublesome back has been 99% better and that is one reason why I push play at least 5 days per week. Still, there are times when it flares up and I need to alter my workout plans to accommodate what is going on with my body.

Obviously every injury is different and you need to carefully consider how to proceed with your workouts but often times, the worst thing you could do is NOTHING! It would be easy to take time off if your right arm is bothering you, but your legs and core are working fine and there is nothing wrong with your heart.

I recently caught up with one of my mentors, P90X creator Tony Horton at the Beachbody Coach Summit in Los Angeles as he discussed how he was working out with an injury to his bicep. Take a look at the video below. I love how he says that he is in better shape now then before he tore his bicep because he has been working out with an injury!
